IMPORTANT!
Beginning June 1, 2023 OnlineBalboa will be moving to a new streaming and payment service. As such, we won’t be able to carry over the accounts and passwords to a new location. If you purchase a lesson here today, or have purchased lessons here before, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THEM before that date.
To download a video, simply play the video, and a downward arrow should be visible on the playbar. Click that arrow and your download should begin.
And, please do not give those downloaded lessons to others; we’re a very small company run by two not-very-highly-paid artists, and piracy greatly affects us.
About the lesson:
Advanced
Alright, let’s try out one of the slickest moves of the modern Balboa dance floor, borrowed from Tango. Some call it “The Butterfly kick,” or “The Tango.” We like something with a little more bite: “The Scorpion Kick.”
We have not taught the Scorpion Kick in classes, so this is an online exclusive. “Scorpion Kick” is also the name of our 1990s post-grunge cover band.
Please note: This is a relatively high impact move compared to most other moves on the Balboa dance floor. It requires the leader to lift the follower and the follower to both jump and be lifted. The video does show a lower-impact, smaller version, but even then, please take care when trying the moves.
